Portishead Choral Society is a friendly, medium-sized, local, choral society with close links to the local community. Currently we have about eighty members, drawn mainly, but not exclusively, from Portishead. Our season runs from September to June, and we rehearse at 7.45pm Thursday evenings at the Folk Hall on Portishead High Street. Our aim is to provide the local community with the opportunity to perform or to listen to choral music to a high standard. We give three concerts a year, of music drawn mainly from the standard choral repertoire. We were founded in 1955 so during the 2014-15 season we celebrated our Diamond Jubilee in some style.
We are affiliated to Making Music, the umbrella organization which supports amateur music-making throughout the United Kingdom. We are also a registered charity.
